Wonderful local dining options

When we bought North Lodge four years ago we were very excited about having a base on the Cowal Peninsula.  The scenery is so amazing with lovely, quiet beaches and there is so much going on throughout the year. We have not been disappointed.

What we didn’t realise back then was that there was such a diverse selection of wonderful eateries, from the Michelin-starred Inver to a cosy coffee shop with home-baking in Kames called The Little Kitchen.  Botanica at the Barn at Millhouse has been an absolute favourite since it was in Tighnabruaich and now that it has moved into the countryside it still delights!   Michael always makes us so welcome and it is impossible to resist his home baked bread.  The lunch menu offers such selection as tasty soup, sandwiches as well as wholesome spicy stews and roasts. There is also a little shop selling local produce.

The Oystercatcher Pub at Otter Ferry sits on the side of Loch Fyne with moorings for boats so that their crews can sample the delights from the menu - from the best haddock and chips we have ever tasted, to amazing local seafood and locally reared beef, lamb and pork cooked to perfection in many different ways.  They also make very tasty ice-cream.

Colintraive Hotel has always been a favourite destination and my particular favourites are the fish pie and also the langoustines caught in the Kyles of Bute, just a few metres away - irresistible!
